A delicate Ocelot

An ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) is silently moving through the night in the deep jungle of the Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica. Ocelot is a secretive species. Despite its wide distribution, there is relatively little information about its population density in Costa Rica. However, it plays an important ecological role, which is more critical in areas where the populations of larger predators, such as jaguars, have been extirpated. Image taken with a camera trap.
