Ce centre accueille actuellement 55 chimpanzés et 75 singes de 10 espèces différentes.
The Centre de Rehabilitation des Primates de Lwiro (CRPL) was established in 2002 by the Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN) and the Centre de Recherché en Sciences Naturelles (CRSN) when it became apparent that the illegal trade in wildlife was a problem in the area and that the animals confiscated as a result required rehabilitation and long term care.
